The Treadle Fairy Does Exist! Her Name is Melody.
I sent Melody a link to the blog after she sent the flywheel and crank so she could see what I was doing with them. Afterwards she offered to look around through her stores to see if she had any more straight leg parts. She did! Yay.
Gratuitous treadle part shots. Hey I was excited. I've been looking around for over a year for these parts.
Like before, the wrapping was amazing. Every part was wrapped separately and the box was very well padded. I love sellers who make that effort. (Are you listening Shopgoodwill.com?)
The base of the pedals are the same width, both 13 3/8". The ruler
is pretty thick so it looks like it's overhanging, but it isn't.
The difference is in the offset of the pitman. The straight leg reaches out almost a full inch further than the earlier models.
Dress guard and belt shifter installed.
Belt guide installed. Happy that I got this in one shot without
looking. The angle to see it is pretty awkward. Putting it in was the
most time consuming part of the whole installation. Thirty seconds or
so.
Pedal installed. Wait I take back about the belt guide being the most
time consuming part. It took maybe two minutes to get the alignment and
snugness of the cone bearings right for the pedal.
And finally here's the whole thing together. Next I have to take it back apart to clean it.
Special acknowledgement goes out to cheesy purple rope. Don't worry, brother, your time will come again.
Thank you again to Melody for reasonable prices and great shipping. You can find her Ebay store HERE.
